What's the Deal?

I used to be an archaeologist.  Later on, I became an archivist in Akron, Ohio and rode my bike to work back when that wasn't the cool thing to do there.  Then, randomly, my husband was transferred to the European headquarters of his company in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.  So, we packed up our stuff and moved the whole operation to the other side of the Atlantic.  Thankfully, our two cats and curmudgeonly dog agreed to join us.  So, I stopped riding my bike to work and now just ride it for fun and have become somewhat of a "roadie."

At the end of 2013 The Company moved us again.  Now, we're located on the banks of the Main River, about a half hour upstream from Frankfurt am Main.  Once again the cats and that dog came along.  I'm stilling riding bikes, but we also spend quite a bit of our time hiking through German forests and, when we're lucky, the Alps.

In 2011, I picked up a camera with the intent of recording this crazy journey for ourselves and those close to us.  It wasn't long before I discovered that I really enjoyed this whole photography thing.  Over the past couple of years it has moved from being a hobby to a way I make a little bit of pocket change.  It also gives me a pretty solid answer to the age old question for the unemployed expat, "What do you do with your time while your husband is working?"

Here on Relish, I share our experiences with a photographic bent.  I still have plenty to learn and am in the midst of going in the direction of a purely mirrorless system instead of a traditional DSLR.  A lot of the posts will be about that topic.  Of course, bikes and hikes will still be a prominent feature.  Comments, suggestions, and whatnot are always welcome.  But please, don't try to sell me anything, thanks.

A good portion of my photos are available for viewing on Flickr and you can purchase several for personal or editorial use on Twenty20.

Thanks for stopping by!  Oh, and I apologize for The Dog's behavior.
